AA is having an official Memorial Day weekend sale on AA.com.

DL does indeed have some fantastic fares available on their website and if you are a first time purchaser, you receive a bonus 5,000 miles. Tickets must be purchased online by 5/24/2001.

I was surprised at the difference between the AA Memorial Day fares and those offered by UA. SBP to FAT on AA is $112 v. $272 on UA. So much for a UA mileage run to visit the relatives.

Yes, AA.com is having a sale. Good luck on keeping your patience while trying to find flights on sale, though.

The system is set up for you to go all the way through flight selection only to learn...you guessed it...not this flight, try again! By the time you get to the page where you can ask, "did I get the sale fare", you've gone through all the steps of dates, times, citypairs, flight choices, then you can ask if the quoted fare ..which you see...is a sale fare.

Makes you just want to try and try again.

Ok, I'm going to ask this again, why is every other major airline having a fare sale except NWA,CO, and AM West? There flights arent' that full. I really don't get it. Like I previously said, I use to be a flight attendant for NWA, and EVERY holiday there was a fare sale. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I was on DL's website this morning....I think I remember seeing a heading for Memorial Day Weekend specials.

I thought the UA fares looked good, but I'm a contrarian flyer with a flexible schedule and don't like to fly when EVERYONE else is. I can't stand the huge lines that start forming the Thursday before any holiday weekend.

SFO-DEN is only $415. 20.75 cents/mile.
Great mileage run.

Considering the non-Memorial special fare is $500+ from SFO and a whopping $800 from our local airport of Eureka, we burned 25,000 miles for my wife to go visit her mother this weekend.

What is going on with Denver?

I saw some US holiday weekend fares on the US webpage using the "flexible" feature, most appeared to be leaving Fri. or Sat. from the East and coming back from the left coast (I mean the west coast) on Sun. thru Tues.

Flight selection was not great. I do not think that there was any announcement on the webpage.

A far cry from $156 RT from ORF-SEA in 1996( and upgradeable with NA upgrade certs also).

You know it's funny. I use to be a flight attendant for Northwest a year ago. I swear every holiday there was a fare sale. And now that I'm trying to build miles, of course neither NWA, or CO has a fare sale for the holiday this weekend.

did find a sjc-jfk on ua leaving friday and returning monday evening for $ 220 not bad !!

As a very frequent flyer, I'll be at my favorite destination over Memorial Day weekend: home!

Thanks mostly to UA and to the idiots from the Pena administration, DIA is one of the most expensive airports to fly into. Coast to coast fares can be had for ~$200, DEN is ~$400-500. That and Employee Class are the two biggest reasons I left UA when I lived in Denver. Fly anyone else to/from Denver whenever possible. Frontier goes to SFO...
