Premier Car/Driver Service
January 5th, 2009 |Regarding the revenue discussion - I've frequently upgraded from an economy paid fare, with points on EI to Premier (business) class, and have always been offered the Limo service on both sides of the Atlantic. Service was as good as previously discussed - no problems.
Not sure if the AA thing might invalidate this perk, but I would doubt it. You should try again ! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I called EI and asked about the limo service. They told me that it is only available when the ticket is booked directly with EI. Does this sound right? I was really looking forward to using the service.
Perhaps this is a perk only for Ireland-based Gold Circle members. I've previously booked Premier award tickets with the GC desk in NY and they told me in no uncertain terms where to go with my request for limo transfers! Not that there's anything new in US-based GC members getting a raw deal.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Maybe next time I'll book through Dublin.
Thanks for the info.
EI only offer the limo service if you are flying on a revenue ticket. As you are on a reward ticket, the limo service is not included. This applies to all award tickets be they issued by EI TAB or AAdvantage. The language on the EI website (stating that ALL pax in Premier will be offered this service, is misleading). All the same, this is pretty common - Virgin do not offer limo service if you are flying in Upper Class on an award ticket either.
I've always had good experiences with the Car/Driver Service - Dublin or Boston, the drivers and cars have been on time and in excellent condition - no need to make any alternative (and costly) arrangements http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
ka9taw,
EI only offer the limo service if you are flying on a revenue ticket.
That's what I figured, but I had a shred of doubt after nwchgo's reply. When I called to reserve seats, I asked about the limo and her response was "we don't do that for code shares, only if you book with us" or something to that effect. I figured she also meant no non-revs but had enough doubt that I thought I'd pose the question.
They should really clarify the website.
The source of your ticket shouldn't matter. From Aer Lingus's web site:
All passengers travelling Premier Business Class on Aer Lingus transatlantic routes can take advantage of a complimentary chauffeur-drive service at airports of departure and arrival in Ireland, the UK and the US. This service is provided within a 50-mile radius of any Irish airport served by Aer Lingus, and a 40-mile radius of all our gateway airports in the UK and US.
I would call them back and just tell them you need to reserve your car and give them the details.
I used the service in Dublin and it was very good.
By the way, the Premier luggage tags actually work-in Dublin they have a separate carousel and the bags come out very quickly. They also came out quickly at ORD, but on same carousel.
Thanks for the reply.
I think it is a safe bet to rely on EI for this service and not make other arrangements. That said, I have not used the service in over a year or so, although I have not heard from anyone that is has changed.
