G'day, for the second year CIBC has sent me 5 Aerogold cheques. It works like a cash advance but ya get miles - max 5,000 miles per cheque. SWo I reckon why not - I wrote five cheques out to my wife over a 7 week span for $5,000 each. She cashes them, and pays off the CIBC Visa bill. Ironically, the cheques are cashed and credited before they are evn posted on the Visa account - so no interest. Wallah - 25,000 miles for free = a free RT to Palm Springs, Cal.
Anybody else get this deal?Yes, CIBC neglected to award me 10,000 miles last year as well - but a phone call to CIBC Visa solved the problem on the very next statement.
Anyway - I am not sure what the criteria is to get these aerogold cheques but they sure are nice! It mores than pay for the annual CIBC Visa fee.Ditto. 2 years for me + 3 years for my Dad and never got this deal.
Although, I have used cash advance cheques to build up my GM Card account and my (now defunct in Canada) Ford Card account.I have never heard of this and I have been an CIBC VIsa Aerogold cardholder for 3 years!
------------------I got them last year in January, and then AGAIN in March. I did the same thing, over about a five month period, except near the end when I went through a frenzy of doing about three cheques in two weeks - CIBC ended up missing crediting me on two of them, but I figure I had screwed them enough anyway, so I didn't call and complain.
I've since called them and asked if I could have some more, but they said it was a one-time promotional offer....Not to boast (well, not much), but I "earned" 107,500 points with those cheques. Haven't seen any in over a year, but first they sent two where you got 3,750 points for $2501-$5000. Then they sent five at 1pt/$1, maximum $5000. Then five more. I noticed they sent those with the first statement after I used the last one of the previous batch.
So I used up those five faster. When I didn't get any more, I called and was told it was a one-time promotion. But they hunted around and sent me five more. Then I got five more with my statement a couple of months later.
Phew!#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
