  • There was a similar 100% ($165) rebate on Peachtree 2006 software earlier in the year at OfficeMax. I jumped on that, and as soon as I got the software, I got notices from Sage Software offering a minor discount to upgrade to Peachtree 2007, which was billed as the most significant upgrade the software's ever had. I also read a number of web reviews that similarly suggested that the 2007 version was a significant upgrade, and one that filled in many of the gaps that most users felt existed between Peachtree and QuickBooks. So I figured, "aha, so that's why they were willing to give away the 2006 version... as an inducement to buy/upgrade to 2007."

    So now I have no idea why they're giving away the 2007 version.

    But I sure am glad I didn't buy the upgrade!

    Just wish I'd thought about the fatwallet angle before I "bought" this freebie.
