Has anyone tried redeeming MyPoints for Vacation Miles. I have about 8K MyPoints and dont care to use them anymore for shoping, so I doubt I will be accumulating a great deal more. I am looking at the $50 off Marriot or Hyatt award for 2,500 Vacation Miles. Has anyone tried this award, how does it work?I got the prepaid gas card (it came within 2 wks.) Came in handy on my last trip and took some of the 'bite' out of the high gasoline prices. Hilton HHonors points are also a good deal.Just my experience, but shooting myself in the eye would be less painful than dealing with Mypoints. For that reason, I cashed in for Hilton points because the transfer is electronic and you don't have to wait 48 years to receive the certificates after emailing customer (non)service for 5 decades. Good luck whatever you decide to do.TMD,
To answer your question about vacation miles:
When you redeem your points for vacation miles, you will get a vacation mile certificate. I believe that 8000 points will get you a 5000 and a 2500 certificate. Once you get these certificates (I have gotten mine within 2-3 weeks and I live in Hawaii)then you call the toll free number and let them know what you want.
You must make your reservation through them (so they can earn the commission). When you are ready to make your reservation, let them know that you want the $50 off certificates. They will allow you to use 1 certificate per night of reservations (ie $50 off per night).
They will send you via certified mail the same $50 gift certificates that you can buy yourself. I have not figured out what happens if you cancel the reservation as you will already have the gift certificates in hand.
I have used them three times and Vacation miles has been extremely efficient:
1. transferred 20000 mypoints into 25000 AA miles
2. Used 10000 vacation miles for $200 off my Maui Marriott stay. They got me the same $69/night that I was quoted. With the certificates it came out to $19/night
3. 23000 vacation miles for a 1 week Hertz voucher and $100 traveler check. Received it in less then 10 days
I too get very upset at mypoints and wont order through them if I don/t have too but I still use for the free points that you can get daily and by signing up for free stuff. Vacation miles is one of the biggest assets.
Hope this answers your questions. If you have any further questions, email me.I redeem MyPoints points for Hilton HHonor points or Alaska Airlines mileage vouchers depending on my needs at the time of redemption.
Although some have had bad experiences with wait times receiving awards from MyPoints, I always receive the Alaska vouchers within two weeks. Of course, as mentioned above, the Hilton points transfer electronically. Those transactions have happened for me as fast as 12 hours or as long as 5 days.

Addicted to airline miles? Check out: The Airline Mileage Workshop (http://www.mileageworkshop.com)Thanks amlowe, thats what I was looking for, It sounds like vacation miles work pretty well when you have some time. I like the fact that 2,500 mypoints gets you $50 off a hotel room. Most of the other $50 gift certs look like they take around 5,000. I have never really had a lot of problems with Mypoints, but find greenpoints a better deal with better customer service. I will probably work to get to 10,000 Mypoints so I can get 10,000 vacation miles.I have never had a problem with Mypoints. The one reward I ordered via regular mail arrived in less than a week. (gift cert). All my other redemtions have been for hilton points which have taken an agonizing 2-3 weeks.....Everyone seems to complain about Mypoints, but I have yet to see any problems myself. However, Greenpoints offers superior point for dollar value for online purchases, so I would definately take your shopping money there first. My (still constitutionally protected) opinion (and without mocking someone else's opinion) is their service is HORRIBLE. I stand by my opinion of obtaining HHonors points and leaving.I watch as others badmouth this organization, but I never really had problems with them. They always came through. Their program is topnotch and their personnel courtesy. This is a A-1 company and gets the Sergio award for outstanding company. Where can you get everything and anything you want for surfing the web?
